The Acute Effects of Pragmatic Manual Therapy on the Range of Motion of Shoulder Joint

Beneficial intervention among the four trials and other previously reported beneficial in improving the shoulder joint range will be combined in and termed as pragmatic interventions protocols. Pragmatic interventions on subjects with restricted range in shoulder pathology will be tested through similar design.

High Dose Accelerated iTBS for Depression

This trial will compare active intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) rTMS in an accelerated treatment schedule (8 treatment sessions per day for 5 days) to a placebo control. Depression symptom severity will be measured before, during, at end of treatment, 1-week post and 4-weeks post treatment.

BCI-FES Therapy for Stroke Rehabilitation

When BCI systems are integrated with functional electrical stimulation (FES) systems, they can be used to deliver a novel physical therapy to improve movement after stroke. BCI-FES systems are hypothesized to stimulate recovery after stroke beyond that of conventional physical therapy.

Long-term Consumption of Resistant Starch Type-4 (RS4)

Using a long-term randomized-controlled intervention design, blood lipids (total cholesterol, LDL-c, HDL-c, triglycerides) and body composition will be assessed. The investigators anticipate reductions in cholesterol and body fat percentage following 8-weeks of Fibersym RW consumption.

Impact of Interval Training on Sympathetic Hyperactivity and Vascular Function

In this study, the investigators are testing the hypothesis that reduction in sympathetic activity would be greater following high-intensity interval training (HIIT) than moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) and correspond with improvements in peripheral vascular function, and skeletal muscle function in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Changes in Brain Function Through Repeated Emotion Regulation Training

This is a pilot study that will investigate how two psychotherapies (re-interpretation and mindfulness) alter brain function. This information will be used to gain understanding of how repeated emotion regulation practices influence the brain and to develop a focused, tactic-based emotional regulation remediation approach for treatment of ADHD.

Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography in Septic Patients

Myocardial microcirculatory alterations may be involved in the pathogenesis of acute cardiac dysfunction or septic cardiomyopathy in septic patients. The investigators study the cardiac function (systolic and diastolic) with two-dimensional echocardiography (TTE), and the myocardial microcirculation with contrast echocardiography (MCE) and sulphur hexafluoride microbubbles Sonovue injection in ICU septic patients.
