This study investigates the effectiveness of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) therapy in treating Parkinson's Disease (PD) across different geographic populations. Parkinson's Disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement, often including tremors. The study aims to measure the outcomes reported by both clinicians and patients over a one-year period following the DBS procedure.
Participants will undergo DBS therapy, which involves implanting a device that sends electrical impulses to brain areas responsible for body movement. The study will collect data on health outcomes to evaluate the therapy's effectiveness. Participants must have a normal cranial MRI or an MRI with non-significant abnormalities to ensure safety during the DBS procedure.
- Who can participate: Adults aged 22 years and older with Parkinson's Disease that responds to Levodopa and symptoms not adequately controlled by medication are eligible. Participants must have a normal or non-significant cranial MRI and be able to consent and comply with study requirements.
