Cysteamine for Asthma

Testing an Investigational Asthma Medication

Recruiting
18-45 years
All
Phase 2

This study investigates the effectiveness of an investigational medication when used alongside standard asthma care to improve asthma symptoms and lung function. Asthma is a condition that affects the airways in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. This study focuses on people with asthma who continue to experience symptoms despite taking high doses of inhaled asthma medications. These individuals often require frequent healthcare visits and hospitalizations.

Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to one of two study arms: one receiving the investigational medication and the other receiving a placebo. A placebo is an inactive substance that looks like the investigational medication but does not contain any medicine. The study is double-blind, meaning neither the participants nor the researchers will know who is receiving the investigational medication. Participants will be assessed at various intervals to compare the effectiveness of the treatments.

  • Who can participate: Adults aged 18 to 45 with asthma not controlled by moderate to high doses of inhaled corticosteroids and allergic reactions can join. Written informed consent is required.
  • Study details: Participants will receive either the investigational medication or a placebo without knowing which one. The study compares the two groups to see how effective the investigational medication is.
  • Study Visits: The study requires 4 visits.
